Violence in the home is a crime, and we CAN do something about it.

Domestic violence is best described as when one partner or ex partner uses violence or intimidating behaviour in order to control and dominate the other partner.

Research into domestic violence has indicated that in the majority of cases the abusive partner is the male partner and that the victim of the violence is the female partner. However other family members can also be victims or be the abusive person. Domestic violence also occurs between partners of the same sex.

Domestic Violence includes: physical, sexual, emotional, social, economic and verbal abuse and violence. If your partner, or ex-partner or a family member hurts, threatens, abuses, stalks or humiliates you, or causes you to live in fear, it is domestic violence. No one has the right to hurt you and no forms of domestic violence should be tolerated.

If you are living in a domestic violence situation you need support. Support is available from agencies within the Fremantle area who believe you have the right to protection and assistance to overcome the difficulties you face.
