You never know, so have a go… at the Samson Recreation Centre this July
02 Jul 2008
DON'T live with what might have been - get in there and give it a go.
That’s the message from The Meeting Place and Samson Recreation Centre, as they host a special Have-A-Go Day for over-55s on July 25.
It’s a chance for people to join in on activities such as carpet bowls, quoits, darts, badminton, table tennis and various table games at the recreation centre from 10am.
“The day is really just about getting in there and having a go,” Meeting Place program officer Jenny Marslen said.
“Research has shown that being involved in regular activity can improve fitness, balance and muscle-strength, as well as improving your mood.
“This is also a chance to find out about groups, clubs and organisations that offer physical and social activities in the community.
“People are welcome to come and try just one or two things or stay and try everything that’s on offer. A light lunch and refreshments are also provided. ”
City of Fremantle bush regenerator Shayne Boyle will be on hand after lunch to take people on a guided walk through Samson Park, detailing the various plants on show.
In the lead-up to National Tree Day on July 27, participants also get the chance to plant a shrub in the park.
For more information, call The Meeting Place on 9335 3394. The Samson Recreation Centre is on McCombe Avenue, Samson.
