Learn to Live to 140 at Fremantle Expo

A PARADE of environmentally friendly fashion, a belly dancer and a professor with advice on how to live to be 140, are among the attractions at The Meeting Place Community Centre’s inaugural Active Lifestyles and Healthy Ageing Mini Expo, at Fremantle Town Hall on Thursday, October 30 between 10am and 3pm.

More than 40 exhibitors will take part and organiser Kathy Ings says people aged over 55 or with parents over 55 that need help accessing services will find the Expo particularly interesting.

Admission is free. Complimentary tea and coffee will be available and ‘door prizes’ will be drawn throughout the day.

“There is an entertainment program throughout the day featuring Dr Peter Dingle who will speak about living to 140, then there’s a Tai Chi demonstration, a belly dancer, fashion parade and Dr Ross Mars will present a spot on back yard vegetables and permaculture,” Ms Ings said.

“The Expo promises to be an informative and inspiring day that will motivate people to consider how to actively look after their health and wellbeing as they age.

“It’s a plastic-bag-free event so I encourage everyone attending to collect their recycled paper showbag at the door when they enter.”

Exhibits range from local clubs, organisations and educational opportunities to self-help, safety, health and pampering.

Fremantle TAFE students are offering complimentary neck, shoulder and head massages as well as skin care and fitness advice for men and women.

South Fremantle High School music students will provide entertainment and local artist Robyn Varpins will demonstrate acrylic painting.
